Best Life To Live | Episode 8: "Grounded in Self Worth" Ernie Bilodeau, Tony Daum

How do you define your self worth? It is important to first realize you are in total control of setting your self worth. Your self-worth is primarily determined by your subconscious. That is 90% of what happens to you throughout life – the little events you may not even pay conscious attention to, as well as the large life-changing events are all loaded into your subconscious. Your subconscious continually plays a movie that shapes your self-worth.

As Tony says: “life” plus “events” equal “behavior”.

Knowing that 90% of what happens to you is played out in your subconscious it’s very important to be aware of what you allow into your subconscious. For example do you watch endless hours of the evening news, listening to everything that’s wrong in the world today? Or do you choose to get your news on demand, reading only what’s relevant to your life as well as interest stories that might be uplifting?

I like to be very clear here – your job, your career – is NOT who you are. Your career may be in medicine, you may be a teacher, you may be a racecar driver or basketball player – but those things are not who you are, they are things that you do. They do not define you as a person.

Understand there are many aspects that contribute to your self worth and you must understand what things are most important to consider and what things should not be used in determining your self-worth. We will spend time talking about things you can do to make a difference in your life by first becoming grounded.
