Maggie and Harmony explore a story published in 1981 this week, “The World’s Greatest Fisherman,” by Louise Erdrich, which later became the first chapter of her debut novel Love Medicine. The story explores the dynamics of a Chippewa family after one member goes missing. Harmony and Maggie discuss racial dynamics, domestic abuse, feminine solidarity, and the effects of Native American genocide.
