Nihilism in the Army and Libya's Connection to Pan-Africanism (with Stephen the Infantryman) #HeliumRadio

What’s up to my melodious meercats and yellow throated skip dandies! (Skip dandies aren’t a real thing but they should be, and they should be amphibious with little flappy ear like thingies. You see it too, right?)

Welcome back to another top shelf episode of the BNP!

This episode, we welcome back Stephen the Infantryman, who makes his triumphant return to the BNP. We discuss some nuts and bolts of army tactics, organization of fire squads, and the importance of command structure when working collaboratively with others under stressful and high-stakes circumstances.  Stephen then opens up about some uncomfortable and unsettling tendencies he noticed during his time in Kandahar during the Obama troop surge: military leadership acting recklessly and being utterly cavalier with other peoples’ lives. He also describes a misguided nihilistic pride he noticed far too much of during his tour of duty: one that seeks out danger unnecessarily and welcomes self-destruction and the destruction of others, all in the service of acquiring an ultimately meaningless sense of glory.

For the second part of the episode, I examine some lesser known aspects of the Obama era intervention in Libya. Most saliently, I discuss the gold-backed pan-African currency that Muammar Gaddafi was working on in Libya, in order to free nations all across Africa from predatory IMF and Western corporate debt bondage, before the Hillary Clinton-led State Department executed a bloody dirty war intervention and reduced the most prosperous nation in North Africa to an open air slave market.

In between, there are some skits, poems, tidbits and miscellaneous audio treats for all y’all.
