S2E12: Are You Absorbing Other People's Emotions? - Interview with Erin Hordyski-Luong #HeliumRadio

When we help others, we can feel good about ourselves and our contributions to society. However, if we help too much or too often, we can become emotionally drained and overwhelmed. This can lead to burnout, which is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands.
When you absorb other people’s emotions and moods, you may feel more connected to those around you, which can be a powerful experience. However, your ability to attune may also be like a sponge: You end up inadvertently cleaning up the mess.
This was the case of our guest, Erin Luong, is a Mental Health Literacy Specialist and School Counsellor from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is also the founder of WingsOut.ca, a community for healing and growth.
Erin experienced so much exhaustion, as she was absorbing the problems of her clients. This impacted her health and well-being, her relationship with her children and her performance.  What action steps did she take to overcome this?
Let’s check it out.
