The Healthcare Confidential Podcast | Episode 1 featuring Ken Sternfeld, R.Ph Theresa Jacobellis |

This inaugural episode of Healthcare Confidential features a conversation with Ken Sternfeld, RPh, founder of RXVIP Concierge. RXVIP Concierge is an innovative company that guides pharmacists, PharmDs, and students of pharmacy on a pathway to becoming Concierge Pharmacists. Through this program, Concierge Pharmacists can be embedded within a physician’s private practice to deliver a suite of clinical value-based services instead of working in a retail pharmacy setting.

Ken is a registered pharmacist who was inspired by both his father, also a pharmacist, and his father-in-law. After helping to care for his father-in-law at the end of life, Ken longed to continue to have meaningful connections with patients. He was inspired to launch “Pharmacy Fridays” in the office of Michael Goodman, MD, a concierge physician practicing in Bellmore. Enthused by the response of patients and the value that he perceived he was able to bring to medical practice, Ken began to share his vision through weekly podcasts on the Pharmacy Podcast Network. His idea began to attract the attention of pharmacists and pharmacy students around the country, as well as physicians and companies working to transform healthcare.

In this episode, we address the ways in which pharmacists, who undergo years of education and post-graduate training, can serve as front-line healthcare workers, enhancing the care provided in the primary care office setting.

The Take-Away: Pharmacists are educationally prepared to serve as key members of the healthcare team. Having them in the physician’s office is a win-win-win: good for the practice, good for the patients, and great for the pharmacist looking to work in a role that is more meaningful than retail pharmacies provide.
