Visualize Utopia #3: Life After Cops

What’s up to my weird (in that good, quirky, fun kinda way) walruses and spectacularly speckled sea lions! 

This episode is Part 3 of the BNP‘s Visualize Utopia series, and its aim is to envision a reality without cops as we know them. Last episode described the depth of the problems with modern U.S. law enforcement. This episode imagines real, tangible, achievable solutions.

A world without police is not only possible, but inviting and rewarding. We can bind together as communities and defend ourselves. We can treat each other with respect. We can strive to execute society in a just and egalitarian manner. And we can start doing this right now. 

I don’t know about you, but I’m done standing by while our precious and innocent brothers and sisters are shot dead in the street. A badge does not confer anything except the shared dream we all choose to accept. But we can dream another dream, a better dream, and a dream where every human life is known to be and treated as a sacred gift. Because you are a sacred gift.
