Evan Asano is the Founder and CEO of Mediakix, an influencer marketing agency that connects the world’s top brands with video creators and social media influencers. Evan got his start in digital media at BermanBraun and then worked in business development at Revision3, one of the earliest YouTube networks which Discovery Communications acquired in May 2012.

In this episode, Evan explains the challenges that characterized the early days of online video, from low CPMs and difficulty moving audience off platform to learning which content formats performed well on YouTube. He also shares his perception of influencer marketing platforms and comments on Google’s recent acquisition of Famebit, saying there’s a place for both high-touch agency deals and programmatic activations. According to Evan, influencer marketing is here to stay because younger audiences aren’t watching TV and the growing popularity of ad blockers makes other online advertising less effective.
