Ben and Tom

Just Some Podcast was born out of conversations that Ben & Tom have had over their 20+ year friendship.  Conversations that were very similar to what you typically hear on the air.  Over the years, Tom had suggested doing a podcast it just took Ben a few years to warm up to the idea.  They knew their banter and interaction would improve the show regardless of the topic.  So they started with “Just Some Podcast for Advanced Practitioners” as they are both board certified nurse practitioners and wanted to produce an educational podcast that wasn’t just boring reading of notes and PowerPoints but instead was something engaging, educational, entertaining, and funny.  And who knows perhaps in the future you will see other “Just Some Podcast” shows.

Ben

Ben is a board certified family nurse practitioner providing care in the Midwest of the US.  He has is doctorate of nursing practice and is routinely involved in local and state organizations.  Currently working in Family Practice, Emergency room/hospitalist roles, and correctional healthcare, he brings that knowledge and experience into the podcast for the listeners.  Before being an APRN, he worked as a nurse in ERs and also Information Technology (IT).  Prior to nursing, he was a police officer, 9-1-1 dispatcher, reserve deputy for the sheriff’s department, and you can’t forget that stint at Burger King.

Tom

Often described as the Bob Uecker of podcasts (only he refers to himself this way), Tom is a new-er board certified, family nurse practitioner working in primary care and resides in the Midwest of the US. He has a master’s degree in Nursing and is pursuing a doctorate of nursing practice and hopes to feel like he know what he is talking about most days. His background includes experience in the emergency room and intensive care settings, as well he was an ER supervisor and trauma program manager.  He became proficient at both patient care and pushing paperwork around to look busy. His previous career was in law enforcement where he successfully avoided being shot.  The Nobel committee has not yet acknowledged his contributions to healthcare a slight he is not willing to let go. We all pray that he is given the award soon so that we don’t have to hear about it further or maybe NASA will finally make him an astronaut. That might shut him up.
