I grew up in the mountains of Colorado. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I decided to go back to school to become a psychotherapist. In 1999, I moved to New York City to work on my graduate degree. As part of my training, I worked for the American Red Cross and facilitated groups in homeless shelters. I then worked for the Municipal City Employees Union where I assisted members who were dealing with issues such as divorce and financial difficulties.

After finishing school, I worked for five years in the housing projects of East Harlem at the James Weldon Johnson Counseling Center, which is well known for its rigorous training of young therapists. I focused on working with children who had severe emotional needs through play therapy. I also worked with adults who were dealing with issues related to depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. I had the privilege of learning from some of the most respected and skilled therapists in New York City. This experience provided me with some of the theory (psychoanalytic, object-relations, etc.) and skills that I still use today.

In 2005, I relocated to the Seacoast area of New Hampshire. I began work at Seacoast Mental Health Center in Portsmouth, NH. I worked in the children and families department, and was able to bring my knowledge and expertise from my work in New York City. I also was able to create and lead two different groups for children and teens based on meditation techniques and music in order to reduce anxiety. These groups allowed me to use different media and techniques to better help my clients.

Today, I work privately in Dover, NH.  I specialize in working with anxiety. In 2020, I published a book called “Raising Voices” about helping kids with Selective Mutism and their parents. In 2021, I started the Anxious Child Podcast.
